The Lady Cats fell short in losing to Bethany Christian in overtime 61-56. “We continue to improve offensively,” acknowledged head coach Dr. Rick Bragg, “but Iwas very disappointed in our defensive effort. We did not play well at the defensive end of the floor at that was the obvious difference in the game.” The Lady Cats had leads of 16-13 after the first quarter and still led at the half 30-28. “We had four turnovers on our first five possessions to start the second half and suddenly we were down eight,” Bragg said. The Cats fought back to cut the lead to 42-40 heading into the final quarter and controlled the early and mid parts of the fourth quarter. “We had our chances to win and simply did not,” Bragg said. Kayla Schipper scored 15 points and Sarah Hewitt and Emalee Duggins both chipped in with 14 points. Gus Gar scored six, Ellie Snep had five, and Kylie Fuggett added a bucket. Snep continued on her pace to break the school rebounding record with 14 boards, moving her within 22 of the all time career record. Whitko will travel to Oregon Davis Friday for a 5 pm CST tip off.
