The Lady Wildcats dropped a hard fought decision to 3A State ranked Norwell 78-50. The Lady Cats fell behind early but scored a season high 21 points in the second quarter to claw their way back into the game. “We played extremely well against a very talented Norwell squad, despite what the final score may indicate,” proudly proclaimed head coach Rick Bragg. “We actually got within eight with a couple minutes left in the third quarter, then unfortunately committed four straight turnovers that resulted in an 8-0 run for Norwell that stretched their lead to 16 points.” Balanced scoring was the key for team. Emi Duggins led the way with 14 points, four steals, and five assists. Kayla Schipper contributed 13 points. Sarah Hewitt scored 8, Anna Ousley 6, Ellie Snep 5, and Lizz Foutz added four points. “Without question, this was the first time we played a solid four quarters of basketball regardless of the final score. We took several steps forward tonight,” Bragg said. “The key is to continue to build on this progress and continue to improve.” The team will host Southwood Saturday evening in a TRC matchup. “I really encourage the Wildcat Nation to show up and support the team Saturday night. We are going to continue to battle and fight until the end in each game we have the opportunity to play.”
