Game Recap

The Lady Cats dropped a tough 64-56 decision to Madison Grant. The team fell behind 17 points early in the second quarter but battled back to cut the lead to six by halftime. The Lady Cats were down seven heading into the fourth quarter but could never quite get over the hump. Despite the loss, Coach Rick Bragg was very pleased with what he saw. “While we had some defensive lapses loosing track of where their two best shooters were on the floor, offensively, some things really came together for us tonight.” The 56 points represent a season high for the team. Once again Ellie Snep led the way with a career high 26 points and 20 rebounds. “Ellie was simply unbelievable . She took her team on her shoulders and until the very end kept us in a position to win the game,” Bragg stated. Kayla Schipper and Anna Ousley each added nine points. Taylor Reiff chipped in with five points, Lilly Owsley scored four points and Lizz Foutz contributed three points. “We had some kids make some great plays offensively for us tonight so that is a sign of progression,” the head coach added. “We now have a week to let some injuries continue to heal, work on some of the little things, and push the team to continued growth and improvement. We are so very close to seeing the growth turn into some wins.” The Lady Cats will participate in the Tippecanoe Valley Thanksgiving Classic November 25 when they will play Bremen at 11:30 am.

Game Recap

Whitko dropped a 44-27 verdict to a very good Huntington North team. The Lady Cats dug themselves into a deep first quarter hole falling behind 18-4 but kept battling, chipping away at the deficit. “We had some offensive struggles in the first half but defensively we played really well,” offered coach Rick Bragg. “As we have all year, we refuse to back down or quit and that incredible effort and mental toughness really came through in the second half,” the coach added. The Lady Cats outscored and outplayed Huntington North in the second half. “We played our best half of basketball this season in the third and fourth quarters at both ends of the court” Bragg proudly asserted. “We continue to grow and understand the game and responsibilities each player has. We had some really great looks at the basket most of the night which is a result of slowly becoming better and more confident in our offense,” Bragg said. “I continue to marvel at the effort and willingness of the kids to learn how to play and to learn how to compete.” Ellie Snep once again led the Lady Cats with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Snep is among the state leaders in rebounds per game and leads the TRC in rebounding. “I am so amazed with Ellie,” the head coach said. “She epitomizes our progress. She is a player who a year ago was a role player and was not asked to score or be a part of the offense and now she is a dominant force at both ends of the court. She is quickly attracting the attention of our opponents.” Kayla Schipper added six points and six rebounds. “I want to thank our fans who support and appreciate the direction we are headed. Thanks to the Blue Crew. Thanks to the band for their support, and thanks to all who believe in the kids,” Bragg said. The Lady Cats travel to a very talented Madison Grant ball club Saturday evening.

Game Recap

The Lady Cats dropped their TRC opener at Peru 55-40. The team led most of the first half before settling for a 21-21 tie going into the third quarter. “We simply ran out of steam in the second half,” said Coach Rick Bragg. “We suffered yet another injury early in the game and played the last 26 minutes of the game with just the five starters. The kids never quit hustling or working hard- they are truly giving it everything they have,” Bragg added. Peru forged ahead 38-30 after three quarters and never looked back. Kayla Schipper led the team in scoring with 15 points. Ellie Snep added 11 points and 15 rebounds. Anna Ousley chipped in with nine points. “We are making progress with each game even though the scoreboard may not be indicating how much better we are becoming,” the head coach claimed. The team will host Huntington North Friday and travel to Madison-Grant Saturday.
