Game Recap The Lady Wildcats fell to Tippecanoe Valley tonight 55-47 in an emotional and physically played game. It really was a game of two halves, as Whitko came out aggressive in the first half and led 13-8 after 1 and 27-25 heading into the locker room at halftime. With senior Melanie Kelsey scoring 11 points in the first half, Valley switched to a "chaser" defense specifically designed to keep her from scoring. It took the Wildcats a little time to get going in the second half, but they also battled foul trouble in the meantime to 5'10 forward Josie Sparks and 5'9 guard Jennifer Reiff, both starters for this game. The fourth quarter turned into a free throw contest more than anything, and the Vikings held on for the 8-point win, though Whitko repeatedly cut the lead to 4-6 points. The Lady Wildcats were led by Melanie Kelsey's 11 points and Josie Sparks' defense, rebounding, and 10 points of her own. Tippecanoe Valley was led by a pair of sophomores in Caylie Teal (16 points) and Taylor Trippiedi (14 points). Whitko's 6'0 center, Jordan Hall, missed the game after severely spraining her ankle in Thursday night's game. The Lady Wildcats are back in action Thursday, 12/20, as they travel to Adams Central High School.
